Welcome to Gateway Counseling Services, since 1974!

We are a small group of licensed and experienced professionals offering individual, couple and family counseling.

 

Through attentive listening and thoughtful analysis of problems, we strive to build working relationships with clients in which honesty, trust and acceptance are possible. Within this relationship, we share ideas and techniques suited to the needs of each client.

We focus, not only on relief of symptoms, but on assisting clients to establish ongoing ways of coping and reacting in order to achieve and maintain lives of minimal distress, optimal health and personal fulfillment.

 

Counseling is truly a team effort! Clients do best in counseling when they are motivated to look at themselves honestly and openly, learn to disclose their feelings and behaviors in the confidential setting of the counselor’s office, establish goals for change and continue their efforts at self-observation and change between sessions.

 

Counselors listen closely, convey their understanding of the client’s feelings and circumstances, ask questions to assist the process of self-examination and sharing, offer alternative perspectives which might be helpful, and, when appropriate, suggest specific techniques and instructions for the client to consider in meeting his or her goals.
